Happy Independence Day, to all my fellow Veterans, their families and loved ones, and the citizens of the great United States of America.
I would like to take this opportunity to briefly introduce myself. My name is Peter Leary. I have been blessed by the Lord in many ways. I have enjoyed a career in the military, but more importantly God has blessed with an amazing wife of 25 years, Pastor Audra waters-Leary, and four beautiful children, Emily, Sarah, Molly and Hannah. The journey has not always been easy and, like most, I sometimes struggle with my daily walk with Jesus. However, I would not change the journey God has laid out for me. My struggles have strengthened me and I pray will be used for the Lord’s Glory.
“God, Country, Family” this is a saying in the military that is often said but seldom followed. The Bible tells us that the proper order of priority is “God, Family, Country”. The difference between the two could easily be debated but really, it just depends on where we are at in our lives. The one constant though is, God is first. Having a personal relationship with Jesus and leading our children and families to the Lord is His greatest priority for us. This prepares us for a mission to serve our country and we can’t neglect that. In this hectic world we live in, it is very easy to get our priorities out of order. I will be the first to admit I am guilty of this. Thankfully God has blessed me with a wonderful woman of God who helps me in this area, my wife Audra. Sometimes I take the direction the Holy Spirit gives her willingly, sometimes not. I can be stubborn and hard headed. She has endured hardship during my military career and put up with my faults and flaws. However, she has been patient in guiding me to Jesus, and I am grateful.
I will be writing a short 3 part series called “Putting On a New Set of Armor”. This series will talk about the struggles Vets face transitioning to civilian life. Additionally, I will be incorporating some resources that are available to assist Vets. I hope everyone gets to spend time with their family on this holiday. Have an awesome 4th of July! God Bless ~Peter Leary
Have you accepted Christ as your Savior?
If you would like to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, please pray the following prayer:
"God, I believe in you and your son Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave to save me. Today, I invite Jesus into my heart to stay. I make you Lord over my life. Make me new. Wash me, Lord, and cleanse me. In Jesus Name, Amen"
If you have just prayed that prayer, we want to celebrate your new victory with you. Please contact us at prayers@awministries.org so we can welcome you into the kingdom. We don't want you to have to walk alone and we have some resources we would like the opportunity to share with you.
