But the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die. And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die: for God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil. Genesis 3:3-5
While persecution towards Christ Followers is rather normal on some level, there are some who get false accusations flying at them constantly. If this is happening to you, chances are you are under spiritual attack by the Spirit of Accusation. The devil knows more about you than you do when it comes to the outcome, the fruit the Lord will use to accomplish in your life. He sees you seeking to choose the name of Christ above riches and gold and works at slandering your motives. Why? Because, He knows he can not mar the image of Christ Himself. He knows the name of Christ is powerful so he goes after those who choose to represent it (job 1:8). His ploy is to try to ruin your image or take away your relationships and freedoms to keep you from walking in God’s favor that will be a benefit to others. It’s important to know that we ourselves can open the door for this type of onslaught if we are not careful. And, worse, we can allow the enemy a strong hold in our minds where he uses us to falsely accuse others. When this spirit enters, it causes confusion, gossip, slander, theft, misunderstandings, memory loss, and a sense of needing to bear burdens of others that were never meant for us to bear. This Spirit torments us by means of inner accusatory thoughts towards ourselves, others, as well as accusations towards the nature of God. Excessive fault finding, blame, or calling ourselves and others into account (where they might not need to be held accountable), condemnation, damnation, judgement, perfectionism, self pity, and constant complaints are it’s trademarks. In short, this spirit is the author of twisting truths, forming, and spreading lies that try to keep us bound to our past. As our minds are where spiritual warfare occurs, when we believe his lies, we give ground to them. We can suffer from chaotic thinking and lack of focus or general direction. The truth doesn’t always surface until we take authority over the Spirit of Accusation in Christ. It is a major spiritual root that can also lead to health problems that has numerous spirit underlings attached to it. It has to be swiftly dealt with once it is identified active in a believers life. To demonstrate where this spirit operates, we must look at the accusations that took place from the very beginning in the Garden of Eden.
~Genesis 3:3-5
And the man said, the woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the Lord God said unto the woman, what is this you have done? And the woman said the serpent beguiled me and I did eat.~ Genesis 3:12-13
Satan lied to Eve by twisting the truth to make it believable. He also accused God of lying. Adam accused Eve of feeding him the forbidden fruit and Eve accused Satan of deceiving her. While Adam and Eve were technically both “right”, they were avoiding their own individual accountability by putting the blame on others. They were playing a game of “who started it” instead of repenting for, making amends, and owning their part. This is precisely what the Spirit of accusation active in someone’s life looks like. If you have unknowingly opened a door to be target to this spirit, it can be a living nightmare. People under the influence of this kind of warfare keep a list of wrongs against you a mile long. They will project fears about themselves or their sins onto you instead of looking at themselves. They gossip regularly and slander the names of good people in an attempt to protect their own image. Also, this spirit is a main culprit when it comes to division in the body of Christ. It works to prevent sharing the peace of the Holy Spirit and working together in unity as it keeps individuals focused on themselves. Repeated destructive patterns keep those afflicted with it distracted from hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit and doing the things God is asking of them. This spiritual root is also associated with Narcissistic behaviors and can lead to mental illnesses or disorders. Keeping it simple, here are some relevant scriptures and a prayer of deliverance for those who are dealing with this spirit…
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath. ~James 1:19
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written… ~Romans 3:4
For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again; but the wicked shall fall into mischief. ~Proverbs 24:16
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our God, and the power of Christ: for the accuser of the brethren is cast down, which accused them before God day and night. ~Revelation 12:9,10
Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. ~Psalm 85:10
And set up over his head his accusation written, This Is Jesus The King Of The Jews. `Matthew 27:37
Prayer of Deliverance:
Father, I recognize and take accountability for myself and my ancestors on all sides of my family (tracing all the way back to Adam and Eve) when it comes to the presence of the Spirit of Accusation. I formally renounce it in the name of Jesus Christ. I repent for my part and break every generation curse associated with it so that it may not touch future generations in our lineage. Father, I ask you for your forgiveness as we often know not what we do in giving Satan access to our lives. I renounce and repent for participating with all spirits associated with the Spirit of Accusation to include Self Righteousness, Envy, Rebellion, Manipulation, Comparison, Self Pity, Self Torment, Lying, Scapegoat, Insecurity, Self-Condemnation, Division, Self-Exaltation, Deception, Control, Perfectionism, Narcissism, Bitterness, Suspicion, Criticism, Competition, and Isolation. In the name of Jesus, I take authority over all of you and cast you out. You must leave immediately. I replace you with the Fruits of the Holy Spirit made manifest in my life. In Jesus name and through His blood shed for my family’s deliverance and healing, Amen.
Further reading for comfort to allow the Words of the Lord to wash and renew your mind:
Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help. Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them. Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.
For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul. Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall. And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation. All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it. This thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.
Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord. Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. ~Psalm 35
